Celebrating Fourth of July in the Triangle
Please note that some of the fireworks displays are on Wednesday, July 3rd.
Raleigh
Presented by the City of Raleigh and ABC11/WTVD-TV, Downtown Raleigh’s Fourth of July Fireworks show at Dorothea Dix Park begins at 6 p.m. Enjoy live music, games, food, art activities, water slides, a scavenger hunt, and a foam party pit (bring a change of clothes for kids).
Free parking is available at NC State’s Partners Way Deck (851 Partners Way) and Oval West Deck (914 Partners Way), as well as Moore Square Parking Deck (223 S. Wilmington Street) and Red Hat/City Center Parking Deck (429 S. Wilmington Street).
A free park-and-ride shuttle will run from Moore Square Park to Dix Park from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., with return shuttles after the fireworks. Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m. and will be visible from Dix Park’s big field.
Durham
The Durham Bulls Athletic Park will be hosting a fireworks display after their game against the Norfolk Tides. Gates will open for general admission at the end of the 7th inning. The game starts at 6:30 PM and the fireworks begin at 9:15 PM. There will also be viewing sites outside the ballpark at The grassy area behind Diamond View 3, Burt’s Bees – outside of the North Deck, Tobacco Road Sports CafĂ©, and Ponysaurus Brewing.
Chapel Hill
Gather at Southern Community Park with blankets, chairs, and friends for an evening of community camaraderie and a spectacular fireworks display to celebrate the holiday, on Tuesday, July 4th. The event opens at 7 PM with the fireworks display beginning around 9 PM The best viewing is from the Southern Community Park ball fields and around the Southern Village Green.
Fuquay-Varina
Fuquay-Varina will be holding their annual Independence Day Celebration, starting at 6 PM on Saturday, July 1st. A concert featuring Spare Change begins at 6:30 p.m. Food trucks will be onsite and the splash pad will be open from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at sundown which is generally around 9:15 PM. The event will be at South Park and is free for admission
Cary
Independence Day concert from the North Carolina Symphony. Enjoy patriotic favorites, high-spirited classics, an ice cream eating contest, fun activities for kids and a dazzling firework display over Symphony Lake. Concert and Celebration in Cary will be held at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre. Gates open at 3:30 PM, The NC Symphony will be performing at 7:30 PM, followed by a fireworks display at 9:25 PM.
Garner
The Garner Independence Day Celebration is on July 3rd at Lake Benson Park. Enjoy the NC Symphony from 8:30-9:30 PM, followed by fireworks. There will be food vendors, a kids’ zone with games and inflatables, and parking at the park with a free shuttle service from South Garner High. Gates open at 5 PM.
Morrisville
The town of Morrisville will host a family fun festival on July 3 from 4 to 9 PM to celebrate Independence Day. The event will be held on Town Hall Drive with more family-oriented attractions than previous years. There will be live music, magic shows, food trucks, stilt walkers, roving entertainment, face painters, family-friendly games, prize giveaways and fireworks. Gates open at 5 PM and fireworks start at 9:00 PM.
Wake Forest
Wake Forest’s Fireworks Spectacular presented by Capital Chevrolet, will be held on July 3rd at Heritage High School. The Tyson Brothers, the The Band of Oz will be performing. Several food and dessert trucks will be on-site during this year’s Fireworks Spectacular and admission is free! The gates open at 5:30 PM and the fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:30 PM.
Clayton
The Town of Clayton’s Annual Square to Square Street Festival and Fireworks July 4th Celebration will be held on Main Street. The celebration starts at 5:30 PM with a bike parade and will entail a variety of family-friendly events, food trucks, Inflatables, a mobile axe throwing trailer, balloon twister, stilt walker, rock climbing wall and more. There will also be a fire truck spray down and free snocones and watermelon slices. Fireworks will be launched from Clayton High School after 9 PM.
