What is a Conversion Rate?

It is the measure of unique sales you convert by the number of visitors you had within a certain time frame.

How Do You Increase Your Conversion Rate?

You can increase your conversion rate by simply changing the look and feel of your website. According to recent research it’s possible to increase website sales by as much as 10,000% with a few design and customer service changes – many of which involve improvements to the site’s visual marketing. There are a number of ways you can achieve this to either a marketing or ecommerce site. Here are recommended ways to increase the conversion rate of your site:
  • Understand your unique selling point (USP). If a visitor shops different sites for a product or service, why should they decide to buy from you instead of somewhere else? Examples of some great USPs are as followed: Great customer support, low prices, unique products found nowhere else, fast turnaround, and free delivery just to name a few.
  • Make sure you’re memorable. A good site will include information about the company, services, industry, and related items. A poor site will just provide you an online catalog of products or services. If you can make contact with the user at that stage of their process, and give a favorable impression, there is a good chance that they will come back and buy from you when they finally decide to make a purchase.
  • Keep it simple. One of the biggest mistakes sites make is asking too many questions or providing too much information. Your conversion process may be sale, or it may be a request for information. Either way, don’t waste the user’s time asking for information that is not relevant or overloading them with information that may confuse them.
  • Improve the value for visitors. People that buy from you are doing so because they like what it is they see. If a user adds a product to a basket, show them other things they might like as well. If they are viewing a product, the same applies – show them similar items. While they might not buy the product they first saw, other similar ones may not have issues that put them off the first. Upselling and cross-selling are tried and tested sales techniques, and there is no reason not to use them on the web.
In conclusion, these are just a handful of techniques you can do to improve your online conversion rate. The bottom line is a simple, clean, straightforward website can work wonder for customer satisfaction which return should generate more online sales.
