If you are a resident of Cary, you have two options for disposing of your Christmas tree, both at no charge. You can place your Christmas tree and other vegetative materials such wreaths or garland at your curb by seven am on your regular yard waste collection day. You may also drop off your Christmas tree at the Citizen’s Convenience Center, which is located at 313 North Dixon Ave.
- City of Durham
If you are a yard waste customer who lives in the city of Durham, you may place your discarded Christmas tree curbside on the day of yard waste collection between the dates of January 3rd and February 2nd. The trees must be cut in half if they are greater than 6 feet in length. They must also be stripped of all tinsel and decorations. For non-yard waste customers, you need to call to schedule a pick-up of your tree. Residents of Durham also have the option to dispose of their Christmas tree free of charge at the city’s recycling center.
