Wake Internal Medicine Consultants, Inc. (WIMC) is a multi-specialty healthcare provider in Raleigh, North Carolina. Incorporated in 1981, WIMC grew out of Dr. Umphlet’s internal medicine practice which first opened in 1938. Today, WIMC consists of 27 physicians across 11 specialty areas of medicine, including cardiology, gastroenterology, pediatrics, gynecology, geriatrics, and more. Wanting their website to give patients the same experience they offer in-person, WIMC reached out to TheeDigital to modernize and update their digital presence.

Together, we designed and developed a website that is ADA-compliant, easy for users to schedule appointments, and representative of their healthcare values and patient care.

TheeChallenge

Wake Internal Medicine is known for delivering exceptional patient care, but their outdated website didn’t reflect that same quality online. The site was not mobile-friendly, had a disorganized layout that prevented online appointment requests, and forced visitors to work harder to find contact information. Additionally, it lacked clear messaging about their services, locations, and values. Also the site did not meet ADA accessibility guidelines, limiting access for all patients. Wanting to simplify their website and increase online appointment requests, Wake Internal Medicine partnered with TheeDigital for a complete website redesign.

Wake Internal Medicine’s redesigned website is now mobile-friendly, SEO-optimized, and easy to update. The responsive design adapts to any device—tablet, phone, or laptop—making it simple for visitors to navigate, explore services, meet doctors, and schedule appointments. Enhanced SEO ensures the site ranks higher in search results, increasing visibility and attracting new patients. Additionally, with advanced custom fields, the team can effortlessly update content, swap images, and share important health updates, keeping patients informed and engaged.

Online Patient Scheduling

With online patient scheduling, it’s easy for both new and existing patients to schedule their appointments when it’s convenient for them as opposed to waiting until they get time during business hours to call and wait on hold. TheeDigital made the “Schedule an Appointment” option front and center on the home page so scheduling an appointment is fast and doesn’t require any searching at all. For new and existing patients, the patient portal allows them to pay their bill online, request prescription refills, and fill out paperwork in order to save patients time and stress and improving efficiency for the administrative team.

Live Chat

Communication was the number one concern, so we added a live chat feature. This gives visitors to the website an efficient way to ask a quick question without having to spend a lot of time on hold. Now, visitors are greeted with a pop-up chat box where the Wake Internal Medicine team can help their patients quickly and efficiently.

Doctor Gallery

Picking a physician is a difficult task, and scheduling an appointment with a health professional you’ve never met can be especially intimidating, but with the doctor gallery, you can see pictures, read their bios, and learn more about their specialty. You can see which doctor is right for you and then schedule your appointment.
